Contacting Vedana

vedana

Hourlong nondual guided meditation by Michael W. Taft at the San Francisco Dharma Collective.

  • 0- 15 min – shamatha (relaxed focus)
  • 15-30 min – resting in awareness
  • 30 – 60 – Noticing the Vedanan (pleasant / unpleasant / neutral ) that accompanies grasping.

Vedana refers to our basic feeling towards anything that arises in awareness. It is extremely basic, consisting of just three possibilities: pleasant, unpleasant, neutral. As a part of vipassana practice, even while letting go very deeply, we can notice the vedana of whatever the mind contacts.
